The re-designed airline themed Sky High Brunch at the Observatory in Dubai Marina.

Step inside and up 52 flights of stairs (or an elevator) to one of Dubai's most famous vantage points. The undoubted jewel in the Marriott Harbour's crown offers stunning panoramic views of the Palm Jumeirah and the enthralling skyline of the Dubai Marina. The "Sky High" Brunch used to provide a 360-degree epicurean exploration (literally) as you used to have to stride the entire circumference of the restaurant to experience the starters, mains, grills, desserts and beverage stations along the way before eventually making it back to your seat.
The new format of the brunch however means that the buffet has been replaced by a slick 4 course “onboard flight menu” that allows you to sit back, relax and enjoy the flight as everything comes straight to you.

THE FOOD

The first course “All Aboard” features a selection of breads, Antipasti (including pork), Caprese Salad and a Wild Rice Salad.
The Next Course “Buckle Up” includes a Seafood Ceviche, Short Rib Croquettes, a Dim Sum Basket (Prawn Har Gow, Chicken Sui Mai, chicken Bun) and an assortment of Sushi Rolls.

Once you reach “Cruising Altitude” the stars of the show arrive to your table. The Pork Platter includes succulent Pork Belly, Honey Glazed Gammon, Cumberland Sausage and BBQ Pork Ribs. If that wasn’t enough to have you salivating, the Mixed Grill Platter featuring Peri-Peri Prawns, Blackened Salmon, Stuffed Lamb Leg, Baby Chicken and Slow Roasted Beef were equally well seasoned, flame grilled and presented. (We had to get more Lamb and Honey Glazed Gammon). The Thai Green Vegetable Curry and Rice would shine in their own right, however there was no detracting from the platters, although the sauce did double up as a nice dip for our proteins.

When “Descending to our Final Destination” aka a trio of substantial yet light and airy Desserts provided a superb finale to what was a first class flight. Sweet lovers will adore the traditional Tiramisu, a Burnt Cheesecake with strawberry compote and delicious Yuzu Crisp, and an Apple & Blackberry Crumble served with Cinnamon Ice Cream.

THE DRINKS
Choice is not something that you will be spoilt for, with a selection of 7 different cocktails, Grape lovers can choose from D'alamel Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose or Hardy's The Riddle Sparkling as their options while hops drinkers have Fosters bottle’s as their sole choice.

SUMMARY
Arrive early to avoid ques for the lifts with the COVID capacity restrictions in place. Observatory's new format brunch is a more sedentary affair that before, yet still manages to maintain it’s liveliness, along with it's older, more refined persona and stunning vantage point over the city.
