Indulge in the delicacies of the deep blue sea as we set sail on the good ship "Pergolas" and their nautically themed Seafood night, complete with a gigantic white sail on entry and waiters dressed as sailors.
THE FOOD
We began our lavish buffet with a diverse selection of starters, seafood salads, sushi and in particular a Prawn Ceviche, with its sharp lemony bite and substantial chunks of meat that smacked you in the face like a delicate punch (if there is such a thing.)
The main courses indoors have a wide range of fishes prepared in more styles than we could count by the chefs, who were clearly given carte blanche to create a selection of Sefood Pizza's and Pasta's, Steamsed Slmon. Grilled Seabass and Red Snapper, Baked Nile Perch and more obscure dishes such as Seafood Kibbeh and Seafood Meli Melo.
We would have been satisfied with the range of dishes on offer inside, but were handily reminded that we should also make a trip outside to the BBQ, where the chefs braved the stifling heat to fire up a selectiojn of Cigales de mer (like Langoustines or very small lobsters, but without the pronounced claws), Prawns, Sultan Ibrahim, Barracuda, Mackerel, Red Snapper and Crab…which we piled hastily onto our plates and scurried back to our tables like scavengers to devour.
If desserts are your thing, then a wide ranging and thankfully un-seafoof related spread awaits you back inside. We selected a Brazo de Mercedes (a kind of swiss roll), Hot Chocolate Soufle, Caramelised Bannana and Cream Cheese Brownies to end an indulgent, amorous and utterly fish-tastic Tuesday evening. A perfect spot for a date night.
THE DRINK
We have decided to give you comparison chart to show the difference between the regular and premium packages on offer. Something which is not always readily available, however aficionados (ahem…) such as ourselves find such a useful tool when deciding which package to partake of…luckily for us, our industrious waiter Prakash with his magnificent memory recited every inclusion with exacting precision.
THE OTHER STUFF
It was still fairly sweaty when we visited in May, and although the sophisticated ambience inside was perfectly amenable. The terrace overlooking the water features of the Al Murooj complex would have been a perfect topper to enjoy, especially during the cooler months.
