With a prime location in Souk Madinat Jumeirah, folly by Nick & Scott offers an informal take on modern dining in a relaxed, welcoming environment. As well as an intimate dining area and open kitchen, folly has two outdoor terrace bars, both featuring stunning views over the Madinat waterways and one of the best, uninterrupted views of the the iconic Burj Al Arab from the rooftop.
Nick and Scott are now established figures in their own right, however you can never escape mentions of their famous former mentor Gordon Ramse, whom they honed their skills under for 15 years.
The concept of the brunch is a European-themed sharing style feast featuring the creations by the British duo where guests can try a selection of folly’s signature dishes from an ever-changing menu which is always fresh and exciting. On previous trips, we were stunned by the simplicity of the Monkfish cheeks with paprika and salted lemon, the Lamb saddle with whipped pine nuts and salsa & Stone bass with Asian greens and mussel tempura.
The menu on this visit featured starters of Crispy Hen’s Egg with Pancetta and maple syrup, sweet potato, chestnut and oregano & deliciously meaty Eryngii mushroom with cashew nut curry leaves.
Main courses featured smoked, charred salmon with pickled cucumber & dill, crispy chicken with creamed jacket potato, a quinoa salad and a perfectly grilled ribeye steak with a cabbage and sesame salsa.
The sweet finish Dessert Sharing Board featured a hazelnut, vanilla and salted caramel version of Paris Brest, a rhubarb & custard Mille-feuille, and a mandarin and rosemary yoghurt.
After the brunch, it’s up to the rooftop to catch the remarkable sunset with happy hour from 4pm - 8pm while enjoying the best funk and soulful house music from their live DJ.
