From walking down Khao San Road, Zipping down the streets in a colourful, tassel-lined tuk-tuk or sailing down the Chao Phraya Riverside, one of our favourite smells in the world is Thai Streetfood.
The dishes are cooked by Chef Atip and his team of Chefs from Thailand and are made to a normal level of spice, although they get a real glint in their eye if you request dishes just as they would make them for themselves aka “Thai-Spicy.” (Pet mak)
Among the dishes in the buffet are chicken satay, crispy wok fried chicken with cashew nut, the famous Thai green curry, grilled beef salad, stir fried morning glory, minced beef served in lettuce wraps and crispy larb chicken wings to name a few.
Live stations for Pad Thai and the Som tam green papaya salad which are essential dishes in Isaan (northeastern Thai and Laos) cuisine are fresh and replicated well. One dish we were surprised (and a little disappointed) not to see was a Traditional Tom Yum Goong soup. A chicken and coconut soup and a clear vegetable soup stood in its place.
Traditional Chang beer is served along with a Thai Rum based cocktail and Gin Collins, although it was a quiet afternoon on our visit so not much in the way of the Thai party atmosphere we are used to on the streets of Bangkok, but we enjoyed our foodie trip down Thai memory lane nonetheless.
